Akre Capital Management's Q2 2026 Portfolio Adjustments

Suze OrmanBy Suze OrmanAug 24, 20263 Min Read

Akre Capital Management recently disclosed its 13F portfolio adjustments for the second quarter of 2026, revealing a total valuation of approximately $5.12 billion. The portfolio, comprising 19 distinct positions, shows a significant concentration in a few key holdings, notably Mastercard (MA), Moody's (MCO), Brookfield (BN), KKR, and FICO. This quarter’s activity suggests a strategic reorientation, with a clear emphasis on profit realization and targeted investments in what the firm identifies as high-quality, scalable enterprises.

Akre Capital Management executed substantial reductions in its holdings of several prominent companies. These divestitures included Mastercard, Moody's, Brookfield, KKR, Visa, O'Reilly Automotive, and Airbnb. Such aggressive trimming indicates a deliberate strategy of harvesting gains from positions that have performed well, suggesting a proactive approach to portfolio management designed to optimize returns and manage risk in the current market environment. This rebalancing act allows Akre to free up capital for new opportunities or to bolster existing high-conviction investments.

In contrast to the widespread reductions, Akre significantly increased its stakes in CoStar Group and ServiceNow. These targeted increases signal a strong belief in the long-term growth prospects and fundamental strengths of these two companies, which Akre views as "compounding machine businesses." This selective accumulation underscores Akre's investment philosophy of focusing on enterprises with robust business models, strong competitive advantages, and the potential for sustained growth, even as the broader portfolio undergoes adjustments.

Despite its meticulous approach to stock selection and portfolio management, Akre Capital Management's long-term annualized returns have slightly lagged the S&P 500 since 2009. The firm consistently adheres to a core investment philosophy centered on identifying and investing in high-quality, scalable business models that demonstrate strong capital allocation. This disciplined strategy, characterized by conviction in select businesses and proactive portfolio adjustments, remains a hallmark of Akre Capital Management's approach to generating value for its investors.
